From an article:
A Pennsylvania mother accused of fatally shooting her 19-month-old son as he lay in his crib told authorities the gun discharged while she tried to unload it, according to reports.
Holly Pallone, 26, was arraigned Sunday from Lehigh County prison on charges of involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment. Her bail was set at $1 million, The Morning Call reported.
Officers responded to a 911 call late Saturday and found Anthony Pallone Jr. with a gunshot wound to the head at the family’s Slatington apartment.
Pallone reportedly told authorities she was planning to sell the gun — a Smith and Wesson .44 caliber — for $200 before “it went off and it hit my son in the forehead.”
....Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin called the incident a “grossly negligent shooting.”
“The bullet went into the mattress. We’ve seen that. Unfortunately, it traveled through the mattress … and into the baby’s [crib],” Martin told The Morning Call.
