Police said the victim was accidentally shot in the face by her 4-year-old brother with a .38 caliber gun.
Officials reported the gun belonged to the grandfather, who had walked away for a moment when the 4-year-old child picked up the gun, and pointed it at the victim when the gun discharged.
"He was going to clean the gun, set the gun down, left the area for just a second and heard the shot," said police.Police are still investigating and have yet to determine if charges will be filed against the grandfather.
Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.
