10-year old boy shoots self in head in Las Vegas with unsecured handgun

A mother in Las Vegas, Nevada, left her 10-year old and 3-year old sons home alone.  That's when the 10-year old found a loaded, unsecured handgun.  When she returned, she found he had shot himself in the head.  He is now in critical condition.

From an article:

North Las Vegas police are still deciding whether to the charge the mother, who wasn't home when the 10-year-old shot himself in the head. The boy's 3-year-old brother was home at the time.
When the mother, Carmen Gustin, came home she found the boy injured and called police to the house at 3500 block of Creosote Way, near Gowan Road and Allen Lane, about 4:30 p.m.
Police did not provide details of how the boy found the gun.
Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon said Friday that a decision on whether to charge Gustin likely won't be made until next week. Police arrested her Thursday on unrelated misdemeanor warrants.
Child Protective Services has taken custody of the 3-year-old and a teenage son who wasn't home at the time of the shooting.

Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.
