12-year old Saginaw boy shot in abdomen by 16-year old boy

Shooter Trayveonn J. Jackson, age 16
12-year old Rodney Norris was walking down the street with two friends, ages 12 and 17, when they were shot at by 16-year old Trayveonn J. Jackson.  Norris was shot in the abdomen, and is now recovering.  His friends were not injured.

Jackson has been arrested and is facing eight felony charges, charged as an adult, for the shooting.

The 17-year old friend was apparently the intended target.

UPDATE (4/14/12):  From a follow-up article:
The bullet entered Norris' lower right back and exited his lower right torso. He said he was hospitalized for seven days. Carlson testified that a surgeon told him that “had the bullet been just a little higher, it would have struck a major artery” and Norris likely would have died due to blood loss.
The weapon used was a .40-caliber handgun.
