15-year old boy accidentally kills 16-year old boy with father's shotgun

Ricardo Nava, age 16
16-year old Ricardo Nava, of Kinston, North Carolina, was visiting with his 15-year old friend across the street from where he lived. The 15-year old had apparently gotten hold of his father's shotgun and was handling it when it went off in an apparent accident, killing Nava.

The 15-year-old was handling his father's 12-gauge shotgun when he pointed the gun at Nava and pulled the trigger, killing Nava.
There is no indication of an argument or disagreement at this time.
Deputies are not identifying the 15-year-old suspect because of his age.
The male suspect was taken to a secure juvenile holding facility in Greenville late Wednesday evening.

Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.
