16-year old New Yorker shot in elbow in apparent accident

A 16-year old New York city girl was shot in the elbow in an apparent accident in her apartment in the Lower East Side.

From the article:

The unidentified teen was shot inside an apartment at 210 Stanton St. about 3 p.m. and taken to Bellevue Hospital where she was listed in stable condition, according to police.

She was believed to have been struck with a bullet when someone was playing with a gun, sources said.

NYPD officials said that the teen likely knew the suspect. No arrests have been made.

"I heard the [shot] and a lot of people screaming," said a 56-year-old woman who lives on the floor of the victim and declined to give her name. When she opened the door to the hallway, she saw teen shrieking, she said.
