15-year old boy accidentally shot dead by friend while in stolen car

Carl Martin, age 15
A 15-year old St. Petersburg, Florida boy, Carl Martin, was in a van with four friends after they had stolen the vehicle from a St. Petersburg Beach street. During the drive, a passenger in the back seat, Demontray Lovett, 19, accidentally discharged his .40-caliber handgun. The shot went through the front seat and critically injured the 15-year old. They drove back to St. Petersburg, but the boy lost consciousness.

Believing the injured boy to be dead, the "friends" abandoned him in the car, where he was later found.

Lovett has now been arrested. Lovett has prior juvenile arrests for attempt burglary, battery on a law enforcement officer and auto theft, police said. So how did he get a gun?
