15-year old Escondido boy critically injured after being shot multiple times

A 15-year old Escondido, California boy was apparently riding on his bike when a car pulled up alongside. A man around 20-years old got out, approached the boy, then shot him multiple times before fleeing.

From the article:

Officers arrived to find the 15-year-old victim with multiple gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk on the east side of the street, Wynn said.

Paramedics responded and took the boy to a hospital to be treated.

Police have identified the victim but have declined so far to release his name, Wynn said.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was on or near a bicycle when a silver car, possibly with four doors, pulled up alongside him, Wynn said.

A male suspect got out of the vehicle, approached the victim, shot him several times, then got back into the vehicle. It was last seen by witnesses headed north on Juniper Street, Wynn said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s with slicked back hair. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.

Police have not yet determined what led to the shooting, Wynn said.
