6-year old boy wounded in carjacking by two 15-year olds with assault rifle

A 6-year old Detroit, Michigan boy was wounded in an apparent carjacking, and is in critical condition.  Two suspects, both 15 year olds, have been arrested for the shooting.  An assault rifle was apparently used.

From the article:
Two teens have been arrested in the shooting of a 6-year-old boy during a possible carjacking in Detroit.

Authorities say hearings for the two 15-year-olds could be held Tuesday in juvenile court.

The 6-year-old was in critical condition Monday. He was in a car Sunday night with an adult when the suspects approached and began firing shots. The adult was grazed. An assault rifle is believed to have been used in the shooting.
Reasonable people should ask:  how do 15-year olds get hold of an assault rifle?

Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.
