5-year old present during shooting

William Andrew Saunders, of Gastonia, North Carolina, got into an argument with another man that turned physical.  When the victim tried to flee, Saunders fired at him.  A 5-year old was present during this shooting.

A Gastonia man is accused of discharging a round from a handgun while in the presence of a 5-year-old, according to arrest warrants.

William Andrew Saunders, 21, of 2103 Hemlock Ave. is accused of assaulting a Gastonia man with a handgun on Friday.

Police were dispatched to Saunders’ home. He had allegedly fired a round from the handgun as the man turned to run away, according to the warrants.

Saunders allegedly resisted arrest, kicking one officer in the leg and another in the face, according to the warrants.

The man told police he and William Saunders were in a verbal altercation that turned physical, according to the warrants.
