17-year old Alabama girl shot in abdomen

A 49-year old man, Freddie L. Cook, entered the home of a 17-year old girl, her mother, and grandmother, with a gun, apparently intending to shoot the girl's mother, his ex-girlfriend.  The girl apparently put herself in-between and was shot in the abdomen.  At some point afterward, Cook was shot and killed in the head, though the article does not say who shot him or if it was self-inflicted.

From the article:

Upon arrival, officers found a 17-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Inside the home they found a 49-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head.
The girl, unidentified, was transported to Baptist South in Montgomery where she is listed in stable condition. The man, identified as Freddie L. Cook, of Prattville, was pronounced dead on the scene.
WSFA 12 News spoke with the victim's grandmother. She said the situation started when Cook, her daughter's ex-boyfriend, came to the house with a gun. The grandmother said Cook shot at her daughter, but the granddaughter jumped in front of the bullet.
