A vigil was later being held in Carollton for Christopher, closely monitored by police, when a gunshot was heard. The wounded man was taken to the hospital and treated.
[County Police spokesman] Baxter said shootings at vigils is not something police see often.
“It makes you very nervous,” said New Carrollton Councilwoman Katrina Dodro. “It’s nerve-wracking. It makes you wonder what’s going on. Hopefully we’ll be able to sit with the police chief at our council meeting on Monday and get some more information so everyone is not jumping to conclusions.”
