Oregon man, high on marijuana, shoots himself in presence of his 3- and 5-year olds

A man in Springfield, Oregon, accidentally shot himself while he was twirling his .357 revolver.  Aaron Lee Brown, age 26, was high on marijuana, and the bullet tore through his left thigh and lodged in the floor.  Three people were occupying the apartment below him.

Also present during the shooting were 3- and 5-year old children.

From the article:
Investigators suspect that Brown had been smoking marijuana before the shooting, Umenhofer said.
“This was all very dangerous,” [police sergeant] Umenhofer said. “Citizens who aren’t convicted felons have a right to possess firearms, but you have to be responsible.”
Brown remained in the city jail on Friday evening. His bail was set at $5,250.
There isn't a law against being under the influence while handling a loaded gun in your home, in Oregon (or while having a loaded gun in public, if you have a concealed carry license) -- it only becomes illegal once the bullet is fired, but by then it will be too late.

Luckily, Brown was the only one injured.
