A dispute police say was tied to drugs has left an 11-year-old girl fighting for her life after she was hit by a stray bullet while cleaning her room over the weekend.

The girl was in her home in the 1000 block of Monroe Avenue when one or more gunmen, apparently targeting another occupant, opened fire from the street after 9 p.m. Sunday, police Capt. Anthony Salerno told the Asbury Park Press.
The girl, struck in the face, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
