Lansing toddler shot in chest during dispute between drivers after accident

A husband and wife were driving in a sedan in Lansing, Michigan, and pulled into a service station.

An SUV pulled in after then, and then ran into them in what appears to be an accident.

The husband in the sedan then got out of the car and fired his gun into the windshield of the SUV.

In the SUV was a woman and three children.  The bullet hit a toddler in the SUV, striking the boy in the chest.  The boy is in stable condition.  The other children were not wounded.

The shooter and the woman in the SUV apparently knew each other.

UPDATE (2/18/12): According to THIS article, the woman had been stalking the shooter.

UPDATE (4/27/12):  The shooter, Caralo Johnson, was only sentenced to one year of probation and 100 hours of community service.  He had had an affair with the woman, Tiffany Davis, who had followed him, and whose son he had shot.
