16-year old girl killed in accidental shooting in San Antonio

16-year old Pauline Dietz had gone to her boyfriend's home in San Antonio to pick up some clothes for her 10-month old daughter.  Four other teens were in the home at the time.

Pauline apparently handled a shotgun, and then accidentally shot herself in the chest, killing her.

From the article:

Two teen boys and a teen girl, who were at the home at the time of the shooting, were taken to police headquarters to give statements.

A 15-year-old boy, believed to be the brother of Deitz's boyfriend, ran from the home after the shooting, possibly with the gun, but police have not found him.

They are not calling him a suspect.

Dietz's mother said she told her daughter not to make the trip and instead wanted her to re-enroll at Harlandale High School.

"I was trying to get her back into school, I was going back and forth to court because she was truant and she said she was going to start going to school tomorrow," said Lopez.
Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.
