15-year old Florida girl shot in stomach by 15-year old boy

A 15-year old girl was visiting the home of a friend in West Palm Beach, Florida, when a 15-year old boy rang the doorbell.  The girl answered, an argument ensued, and the boy shot her in the stomach before fleeing.

The Riviera Beach teenager, who is not cooperating with detectives, was visiting friends who live on 11th Street, Ortman said.

She answered a knock at the door and started talking with the 15-year-old male.

"During the conversation she was shot in the stomach," Ortman said. "She indicates it's a random person who shot her."

The boy fled the scene and detectives are following investigative leads in searching for him.
The girl was "alert" while speaking with police, he said.

The girl underwent surgery and is expected to recover.  The identity of the boy is known.

Every gun in the hands of a child must first pass through the hands of an adult.
