7-year old Indiana boy shot in home from outside of home

A 7-year old boy was wounded from gunfire in South Bend, Indiana. The shots appear to have been intentionally fired at the house from outside. Four other children and the mother were home at the time, but other than cuts from flying glass, no others were injured.

From the article and video:

According to officers on scene, five to seven gunshots were fired into the boy’s home; four other children were in the house but were not hurt. Police said they were unsure whether the shooting was a drive-by of if someone had fired at the house on foot.

“It appears that the shot were intentionally meant to go inside the house,” Capt. Ruzkowski explained. “We have no motive, we have no rhyme or reason for this as it stands now.”

Police received reports from several witnesses that a vehicle was seen driving away from the scene and a person was also seen fleeing on foot.

UPDATE (2/6/12): Police have responded to disturbances at that house 60 times since July 2008. From a follow-up article:

But police have seen plenty of trouble there. Officers have responded to the home more than 60 times since July 2008.

“[That’s] one of the higher numbers that I’ve ever seen,” Trent said.

Many of those calls were for domestic disturbances, fights or unwanted people on the property. In July 2011, someone fired shots at the house.
